Conference: IMPI internationalisation toolbox

The toolbox is the key outcome of the Indicators for Mapping and Profiling Internationalisation project. Based on a range of indicators, it maps the internationalisation activities of European higher education institutions (HEIs), presents individual internationalisation profiles and makes results measurable and comparable.

The IMPI project is coordinated by CHE Consult and conducted with five European partners (ACA, CampusFrance, Nuffic, Perspektywy and SIU). The project is financed by the European commission.

A good international reputation is important. European HEIs are therefore investing increasingly more effort and money into internationalisation activities and the expansion of international relations and contacts. Measuring internationalisation has become a priority at many HEIs.

However, how can homogenisation be avoided? How can individual internationalisation profiles be maintained at the same time as producing measurable results? These are some of the questions and concerns the IMPI project and toolbox are trying to answer. The toolbox has been developed and tested in co-operation with more than 40 HEIs from over ten European countries.

Project leader Uwe Brandenburg said: “The symposium offers a unique opportunity for internationalisation experts to learn how the toolbox works in practice. It can be used for two purposes: an institutional self-assessment and inter-institutional benchmarking throughout Europe.” Participants can learn from the institutions that have been primarily involved in the development of the tool. The toolbox can be accessed for free online.

The conference will also focus on the internationalisation issues HEIs are facing now and in the near future. The programme will also address two interesting topics on related themes, namely Maunimo and Ahela. “I hope the conference will become a platform for obtaining a clear and detailed perspective on the internationalisation of the European higher education system“ said Brandenburg.

The conference will take place in Brussels and will be organised by the ACA. The programme is available on the ACA website. Those interested in attending can register directly with the ACA.
