Call for Applications: Young Scientists Can Receive a Scholarship for Outstanding Contributions to Chemoinformatics

Graduate and postdoctoral students are invited to apply for the „2010 FIZ CHEMIE-CINF Scholarship for Scientific Excellence“ until March 28, 2010. The scholarship program of the Division of Chemical Information (CINF) of the American Chemical Society (ACS) funded by FIZ CHEMIE honors innovative ideas of the next generation of international researchers.

It is given to young scientists who make considerable contributions to the field of chemical information thus advancing computer-aided preparation and the use of chemical knowledge. The award is also designed to foster students' involvement in CINF.

Up to three Scholarships valued at $1,000 each will be awarded at the 240th ACS National Meeting in Boston, MA, August 22 – 26, 2010. Applicants must be enrolled at a certified college or university. They have to present a poster during the Welcoming Reception of the division on Sunday evening at the National Meeting. Additionally, they can show their poster at the Sci-Mix session on Monday night. Winners will be announced during the reception. Winning posters will be marked „Winner of FIZ CHEMIE-CINF Scholarship for Scientific Excellence“.

Abstracts for the poster to apply for the „FIZ CHEMIE-CINF Scholarship for Scientific Excellence“ must be submitted electronically through PACS, the new abstract submission system of ACS, before March 28, 2010. (http://abstracts.acs.org). Along with the submission the Chair of the selection committee, Guenter Grethe has to be informed about the application at ggrethe@comcast.net. Additionally, a 2,000-word abstract describing the work to be presented must be sent in electronic form to Guenter Grethe by June 15, 2010. Any questions related to the application should also be directed to his e-mail address.

All entries will be judged by the following criteria: contents, presentation and relevance of the posters. The contents shall reflect upon the student's work and describe research in the field of cheminformatics and related sciences.
