Nominations Sought from Around the World for the 2004 Stockholm Water Prize

Nominations for the 2004 Stockholm Water Prize — the leading international award for excellence in water action, water awareness building, water management or water science — will be accepted by the Stockholm Water Foundation until September 30, 2003.

Eligibility for the $150,000 Stockholm Water Prize is open to individuals, institutions, organisations and companies that have made a substantial contribution through research or concrete results within the last 10 years. The prize honours achievements that increase knowledge of water, raise understanding of the many faceted aspects of this precious resource, and protect its usability and availability for all life.

The Stockholm Water Prize Laureate is announced each March in connection with the UN World Water Day and honoured in August when HM King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden presents the award in the Stockholm City Hall during the World Water Week in Stockholm.

Previous Prize Laureates have represented many water-related disciplines – including academia, education and research, development aid, engineering and law – and have come from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Great Britain, India, Israel, Japan, South Africa, Switzerland, the United States and Venezuela. The Stockholm Water Prize was first presented in 1991
