Clever details for a perfect scanning solution

Right on time for CeBIT 2006, Microform is enhancing its Best Image Quality concept by adding even more color management and data integrity functions

Efficient scanning at maximum speed, with a high level of process automation and optimum access to data – that’s what intelligent document capturing looks like. To live up to these high aspirations, Microform has developed the Best Image Quality concept. And now with CeBIT in sight, the specialists for archiving systems are expanding this total solution by adding yet more intelligent applications for color management and legally compliant archiving.

Processing mixed documents to an excellent quality standard and scanning them either in color or black and white is a matter of course for today’s systems from Microform GmbH. However, users frequently wish to save just specific parts of documents as color images in order to avoid excessive volumes of data, for instance, or because only certain colors are of interest for further processing. Such reasons lead many users to presort their documents. „There’s no need to go to this effort“, say the scanner specialists at Microform GmbH, who have further refined their automated color detection in time for this year’s CeBIT. The application now allows you to specify thresholds and define colors on the basis of which the scanner decides during the scanning process whether it will generate color or bitonal images. At the same time, the tool also improves further processing and reliability: the scanner can be taught to detect specific color characteristics. When these detection characteristics come up, the unit knows, for example, that a separate process has to be started and a new folder created; or the scanner checks whether the specified barcode is actually associated with a color detection characteristic. If this barcode is not detected, the scanner – depending on how the user has configured it – either interrupts the process or compiles a list at the end of the scanning session of all those images it was not able to associate. In this way, the color detection function provides additional reliability and convenience for further processing.

Microform has equipped its systems with yet another extra feature to promote reliable and intelligent data archiving: the digital Scan Signature Module from AuthentiDate. This function ensures legally compliant electronic archiving – documents processed can be destroyed without a second thought after being scanned. And it goes without saying that this application can be integrated in all existing Microform installations – as should be the case with any user-friendly solution.

„The new functions have allowed us to add even more useful components to our systems“, explains Andreas Klinke, Marketing and Sales Manager at Microform GmbH. He goes on to emphasize that, „It is often details that determine how efficiently the user is able to work. We are continuously working on these finer points, exchanging information with our customers, further improving our Best Image Quality concept in the process – 100% in line with our idea of a comprehensive solution.“

You will find us at CeBIT in Hanover in Hall 1 on Stand A 40.

About Microform

Microform GmbH was founded back in 1994 as a marketing company for archiving systems – initially with the aim of insuring the production and sales of Agfa’s proven CD 51 microfilm camera. Since then, Microform has been developing and manufacturing high-performance document scanners and archiving components. With the introduction of its new „Best Image Quality“ concept, Microform has taken it upon itself to market complete and fully customized scanning solutions and to continue developing them in close cooperation with its customers.
