WHS Regional Meeting Debates Health Challenges in Latin America

With increasing population rates, megacities present urban and public health problems – to which this meeting wants to find solutions. Additional topics include:

– Drugs – Crack
– Improvement of Prevention and Outcomes in Cardiovascular Diseases
– Prevention of Avoidable Blindness and Visual Impairment
– Mental Health and Urban Life
– Strategies to Control Cancer
– Air Pollution, Climate Change and Mobility in Megacities
– Assessment and Financing to Incorporate New Technologies for Health in Latin America

The event will gather the board of the M8 Alliance, representatives and authorities from international governments and Latin American universities, non-governmental institutions, civil society, and media.

Concluding this high profile meeting, a document will be issued to communicate main advices to improve the health systems in Latin America.

Since its inauguration in 2009, the World Health Summit is being held annually in October in Berlin, Germany, and brings together opinion leaders from academia, politics, civil society, and the private sector to take responsibility in all health related challenges worldwide.
