Invitation to the Press – ESC Congress 2002, Berlin, 31 August – 4 September 2002

Press registrants are invited to register for the upcoming Congress of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

The ESC Congress is the largest medical meeting in Europe and a unique opportunity to meet and inverview professionals in the cardiovascular field on the latest news and data in cardiology.

As a press registrant, a fully equipped Press Centre will be at your disposal on-site including:
– ESC Press Conferences and press materials
– Industry Press Conferences and press packs
– Press Working Room with full IT support
– Press Catering Room
– Press Interview Room

This year’s programme is especially exciting as a number of new features have been developed for Berlin 2002 to be held alongside the programme’s traditional aspects:

  • Hot Line Sessions and NEW Clinical Trial Update – the Hot Line Sessions of the ESC Congress are always a crowd-puller as the news-breaking sessions of the Congress. In addition this year, a new type of session will be held entitled Clinical Trial Update where the latest data on recent clinical trials will be announced
  • NEW Basic Science Track – this will be a series of sessions focussing on basic science related to cardiovascular disease. Renowned scientists will review a wealth of areas related to the physiology and pathophysiology of the cardiovascular system
  • NEW Focus Sessions on Cardiology Practice – these interactive sessions held by experienced clinicians will these will address the needs of practising cardiologists, focussing on patient-oriented clinical decision-making
  • Main Sessions – these major presentations by experts in their field will review topics related to current basic and clinical cardiovascular research and epidemiology and clinical cardiology as a perspective for daily clinical practice, and will cover key cardiology topics such as diabetes, drug eluting stents and cell transplantation, to name just a few
  • Symposia – these will be organised with the ESC Working Groups and will provide an overview of ongoing research in specific fields of competence, including Debates, Joint sessions with other leading organisations and Invited Lectures by renowned specialists
  • Abstract Presentations – more than 2,000 scientific abstracts will be presented across the 5 days of the Congress representing the latest research by investigators worldwide. Leading abstracts will be selected to be represented as one of the five Featured Research Sessions or put forward for one of the six Moderated Poster Sessions. Three investigators younger than 35 years old will be awarded the Young Investigators’ Award and will present their work in the one of the three award sessions
