CeBIT 2013: Software-Cluster Demonstrates Cross-Company Value Added Chains

During this year's CeBIT in Hanover from 5 - 9 March 2013, the German Software-Cluster will present current research findings at the stand of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
The theme of the Ministry's booth in Hall 9, Booth E50 is “Industry 4.0 – The Factory of the Future.” Within this context, the Software-Cluster partners will show five demonstrators covering the different aspects of managing cross-company value added chains.

By example of a (fictitious) company that develops innovative and personalized medicine technology products and that is dependent on the collaboration with specialized companies across the entire value chain, the connection between the various Software-Cluster demonstrators shown at CeBIT is illustrated:
Business Model Wizard:
The Business Model Wizard is an IT-based toolkit for the comprehensive and standardized describing of business models. A company can use it to analyze, configure, and optimize its business model. Furthermore, it's possible to compare one's own business model with similar business model profiles of other companies in a reference database in order to assess one's own economic prospects of success. http://www.software-business-model.com
Software Process Wizard:
The Software Process Wizard analyzes and optimizes a company's software development processes. This solution enables companies to streamline their processes, make them more flexible, and adapt them to current challenges. http://www.wizard.software-cluster.org

Collaborative Development of Processes As a Service:
The integration of different companies into the manufacturing process of a product is coordinated through collaborative process modeling. All stakeholders from the various companies participating in the overall process can exchange the latest information on the process steps, keep abreast of current changes, and submit suggestions for improvement via a social networking platform. CaeSar – Compliance for Emergent Software Systems:
Companies can use a governance and compliance system to ensure that established quality guidelines are adhered to throughout the entire value chain. This can be used to compile orders for customized products. Subsequently, the most appropriate external service providers are selected based on key compliance indicators and then the entire value chain is assessed for its adherence with all compliance guidelines. This gives companies the ability to dynamically compile value chains and in spite of the resulting, modified process characteristics, to ensure that all regulatory and legal requirements are adhered to. http://www.software-cluster.org/de/forschung/ergebnisse/item/caesar

An Intelligent Augmented Reality Guide:
The Intelligent Augmented Reality Guide demonstrates how work on complex systems can be simplified by directly displaying contextual information into the user's field of vision via special eyeglasses. Using this system, users can for the first time simply film the operations rather than resorting to more traditional cost intensive methods. In this case, no other technical tools are required and the system even detects freehand gestures. Thus, the time required for creating augmented reality manuals can be considerably reduced, and because of its low level of complexity the technology can be widely used. http://av.dfki.de/ar-handbook

The demonstrators shown at CeBIT 2013 were created by one or more of the following Software-Cluster partners: ConWeaver GmbH, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics (IGD), intelligent views gmbh, SAP AG, Software AG, Technische Universität Darmstadt.

The various Software-Cluster findings will also be presented as part of the CeBIT lab talks: Under the title “Software-Cluster on Stage,” the researchers in the Software-Cluster will present their findings on Wednesday, March 9, 2013 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the CeBIT lab talk in Hall 9, J50.

In addition to the findings presented at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research's booth, the Software-Cluster can also be found in many other locations at the CeBIT 2013. A total of 20 Software Cluster partners from academia and industry will present their software innovations at their own booths during the CeBIT.
