Last Chance to Apply for a Scholarship to Study at the Kühne Logistics University
The Kühne Logistics University (THE KLU) – Academic University of Logistics and Management, based in Hamburg’s HafenCity district, is awarding scholarships again this year for its two international master’s programs the MSc in Global Logistics and the MSc in Management. Students with a bachelor’s degree who are aiming for a career in management or logistics may apply. The closing date for scholarship applications is June 30, 2012.
Many students decide for financial reasons not to study for a master’s degree, especially when tuition fees are charged. They often forget that there are a number of opportunities to secure financial support. This year the KLU is again offering financial assistance to students with a bachelor’s degree who would like to study for its master’s programs in global logistics or management.
Scholarship opportunities are available for applicants with personality, commitment, guts, and passion. They must have scored at least 600 points in the Graduate Management Admission Test, but good academic achievements are not the only key criterion.
“We are looking for applicants with the right overall personalities who stand out over and above their internships, language skills, and other qualifications,” says Prof. Dr. Matthias Hühn, Associate Dean of Programs at the KLU. In addition to scholarships the KLU offers a funding option via a reverse contract between generations: its BrainCapital model.
“One reason why I opted for the KLU was the BrainCapital funding option that enables me not to pay my tuition fees until I have a job,” says Eddi Haussmann, a management student at the KLU.
In principle any student who has successfully completed the application process may apply for a scholarship. Application documents are available to download at http://www.the-klu.org/admission/financing/scholarships/. The closing date for applications is June 30, 2012. About the KÜHNE LOGISTICS UNIVERSITY (THE KLU)
The Kühne Logistics University – Academic University of Logistics and Manage-ment (KLU) is an independent, state-recognized private university located in the HafenCity district of Hamburg and sponsored by the non-profit Kühne Foundation. The KLU currently offers two master’s programs in global logistics and management. They are characterized by the international make-up of the student body, an optimal faculty-student ratio, and a first-class corporate network. With what will in future be over 20 professors, the KLU covers all of the relevant areas of research and teaching in the fields of logistics, supply chain management, and business management. Bachelor’s, EMBA and PhD programs are planned. The KLU’s International Summer Schools provide excellent further education opportunities for future senior business executives. In bundling international teaching and research competence in logistics and management, the KLU is the only university of its kind in the world.

A newly developed laser technology has enabled physicists in the Laboratory for Attosecond Physics (jointly run by LMU Munich and the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics) to generate attosecond bursts of high-energy photons of unprecedented intensity. This has made it possible to observe the interaction of multiple photons in a single such pulse with electrons in the inner orbital shell of an atom.
In order to observe the ultrafast electron motion in the inner shells of atoms with short light pulses, the pulses must not only be ultrashort, but very...
A group of researchers led by Andrea Cavalleri at the Max Planck Institute for Structure and Dynamics of Matter (MPSD) in Hamburg has demonstrated a new method enabling precise measurements of the interatomic forces that hold crystalline solids together. The paper Probing the Interatomic Potential of Solids by Strong-Field Nonlinear Phononics, published online in Nature, explains how a terahertz-frequency laser pulse can drive very large deformations of the crystal.
By measuring the highly unusual atomic trajectories under extreme electromagnetic transients, the MPSD group could reconstruct how rigid the atomic bonds are...
